Existence of rivers on this planet are as old as the human beings or the planet itself. Every river is important in their own terms. Some are wide, some are deep and some have plenty of fishes. Every river has its impact on those living around it.  Below is the list of Top 10 longest rivers in world :

1.  Nile  

Nile is often regarded as the most famous and longest river in the world. Nile is 6695 km long. Nile stretches across more countries than any other river. Nile travels through the eleven countries of Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, Eritrea, Kenya, Congo, Tanzania, Sudan, Rawanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

2.  Amazon River 

Amazon of South America is the 2nd longest and largest river in the world and the amount of water it carries out  to ocean  is  greater than  what all other river in the list takes together. The Amazon, which has the largest water basin in the world accounts for approximately one-fifth of world's total river flow.Amazon river empties in Atlantic ocean and with a length of 6516 km it is second largest river in world.


3.   Yangtze River

The Yangtze river is the longest river in Asia, and the third  longest in the world.It flows for 6,380 kms  from the glaciers on the Tibetian Plateau in Qinghai eastward across southwest, central and eastern China before emptying into the East China Sea at Shtanghai. It is also one of the biggest rivers by discharge volume in the world. The Yangtze drains one-fifth of China's land area and wherever you travel in China whether east or west you will find Yangtze river. 

4.  Mississipi River 

Mississipi river flows through amazing terrain throughout the US and final falls into Gulf Of Mexico. It covers 31 U.S states between the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains. Mississipi river covers a distance of 6275 kms which makes it fourth largest river in wold. Mississipi river is famous for  tourist boat, paddle boats and tug boat travels.

5.  Yenisei 

Yenisei is the largest river floing into the Arctic ocean. It rises in Mangolia, flows towards Kara sea and finally ends into the Yensei Gulf and arctic ocean.With a maximum depth of nearly 80 feet, Yensei is the fifth largest river in the world.
Yenisei river empties in Kara Sea and with a length of 5539 kms it is fifth largest river in world.

6.  Yellow River 


Yellow river also known as the Huang Ho starts its journey through the Bayan Har Mountains and empties into the Bohai sea. It has a length of 5464 kms which makes it the sixth largest river in the world and second largest in China.

7.  Ob - Irtysh 

Obi river is the river originating from Mount Byelukha in Siberia, Russia and empties into Arctic Ocean. It has a length of 5,410 kms which makes it seventh largest river in world.

8.  Parana River 

Parana river is the second largest river in south america after Amazon river which flows through Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Parana means "like the sea  "(i.e, as big as the sea). Parana river empties in Atlantic ocean and with a lenght of 4880 kms it is the eighth largest river in the world.

9.  Congo River 

Congo River is a river in South Africa which is also called as Zaire. Country Zaire is called Zaire named after Congo river only. It is the deepest river in the world having depth of 750 ft. Due to its deepness, it is the second largest river in the world by the volume of water discharged. Zaire river empties in Atlantic ocean and with a length of 4770 km it is ninth largest river in world.

10.   Amur - Argun

Amur river also known as Heilong river flows across north east Asia forming the border between the Russian Far East and Northeastern China. Amur river empties in Pacific ocean and with a length of 4444 km it is tenth largest river in world.
